🫙 Chore Jars — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Chore Jars is a family chore-tracking app made by Code4Kids ("we"). This policy explains what information the app handles and how. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we sell nothing, and there are no ads.

What the app stores

When a parent sets up a family, the app stores the information the family enters: a family name, first names (or nicknames) and avatar emojis for kids, chore names and values, and a history of chore completions, spending entries, and payouts. This data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), used solely to sync the family's own data between the family's devices. It is protected by an unguessable family code and is never shown to anyone outside the family.

What we do NOT collect

The app has no user accounts and does not collect email addresses, phone numbers, precise locations, photos, contacts, or advertising identifiers. We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind, we show no ads, and we never sell or share data with third parties for marketing.

Children's privacy

Chore Jars is designed for families. Parents create and control all kid profiles; we recommend using first names or nicknames only. Kids cannot make their profiles or data visible to anyone outside their own family, and the app collects no personal information from children beyond what a parent chooses to enter. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): we collect no personal information from children for marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than making the app itself work for the family.

Data retention and deletion

Family data stays in Firebase until the family deletes it. Parents can delete individual kids, entries, or the entire family ("Reset everything") at any time from the app's settings — deletion is immediate and permanent. You can also email us to request deletion.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase (Firestore) to store and sync family data. Firebase processes this data on our behalf under Google's privacy commitments.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
